내 생각: Social media makes more sense when you view it as a place people go to perform rather than a place to communicate. There's a big difference between sharing to elicit a reaction, and building an archive for yourself that you’re comfortable sharing with others. Most social networks are the equivalent of opening your door and shouting at your neighbors (narcissistic). Private note-taking tools are the equivalent of shutting your door (lonely). We need more spaces on the Internet that feel like quietly leaving the door open and inviting opportunities for serendipity. Social media needs new vibes. 디스콰이엇도 소셜 네트워크 서비스의 본질인 연결에 집중해야 한다. 그저 자기 이야기만 하는 공간으로 만들어선 안 된다. 메이커들에게 이러한 연결의 가치를 자주, 꾸준히 전달해야 한다. 자기 말만 하는 공간은 소셜 네트워크가 아니고 미디어가 된다. 더 위험한 것은 아무도 듣지 않는 미디어, 이것을 가장 주의해야 한다.
한 번에 몇백 명, 몇천 명을 연결하면 그중에 진짜 유의미한 관계로 전환되는 비율이 얼마나 될까? 그렇게 많지 않을 것이다. 모래사장에서 진주 찾는 것과 같다. 그래서 조회수, MAU 같은 지표에 속지 않아야 한다. 사람들이 실제로 연결되었다는 증거에 집중해야 한다.
